How to Find It

To locate IC 1805 in the night sky, first find the constellation Cassiopeia, which resembles a 'W' shape. From the 'W', look towards the star Caph (Beta Cassiopeiae) and then move towards the northeastern part of the constellation. IC 1805 is located about halfway between the stars Caph and Schedar (Alpha Cassiopeiae). You can use star charts or astronomy apps for more precise guidance.

Observing Tip

Astrophotographers should use a telescope with a wide field of view and avoid light pollution as much as possible. Use narrowband filters (such as Hα or OIII) to enhance the contrast of the nebula against the background sky. Long-exposure techniques can help capture the faint details and colors of IC 1805.
