Messier 52 (M52) is an open star cluster located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It was discovered by the French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1774 and added to the Messier catalog by Charles Messier. M52 contains dozens of stars, many of which are youthful and bright, surrounded by a cloud of interstellar matter.

M52 is located in the constellation Cassiopeia, which resembles the letter 'W'. To locate it, first find the 'W' shape of Cassiopeia in the northern sky. M52 is situated near the middle arm of the 'W', slightly to the left of the brightest star in the cluster, which is positioned near the center of the constellation. You can also locate it by drawing a line from the star Caph (Beta Cassiopeiae) towards the star Schedar (Alpha Cassiopeiae).
